The Basics of using Cards as a Fundraiser

By Shauna Hanus

Cards have been used for years as fundraisers around the holidays.  Card fundraising is a great way to showcase your cause while making the fundraising cards a bit more personal.

Using cards as a fundraiser has been employed for years.  You can either have your cards professionally designed or use the talents of people within your organization to design the cards.  Each year during the holidays you will see lots of cards that are made designed by children for sale as a fundraiser.  It gives a personal touch to your fundraising campaign.

Your cards can and should list the specific cause or event that you are fundraising for.  This is an excellent way to make a large group of people aware of your particular cause.  It will also allow people to feel good about helping to support your fundraiser.

If you live in an area where large companies are abundant you can approach the company for financial support in exchange for you making custom cards for them.  This way you both have the opportunity for success.  They can support your charity and you can fundraise for with one particular company.

When you begin to design your fundraising cards take time to plan and have a quality design.  Your cards will speak volumes about your cause or organization you will want to exude quality through your cards.

As with any fundraising campaign you need to take time to plan your card fundraiser from start to finish.  You will need to know how your cards will be designed, how your cards will be printed, how you will distribute your cards, how much you will charge for your cards and who will help with each step in your card fundraiser.  Card fundraising can be very profitable with the right planning and implementation.  You may even find that it is so much fun that you will want to do it again next year.
